After an extended rest, you can prepare a number of daily and utility spells according to what you can cast per day for your level. You can’t prepare the same spell twice. You pick a bunch, and these are your daily and utility powers for the day. So you know twice as many daily powers and twice as many utility powers as any other class. But at the beginning of your adventuring day, you pick the same amount as anyone else, and those are your dailies and utilities for the day.

How many spells can I cast per day? A first-level Wizard can cast at least 3 1st-, 2 2nd-, and 1 3rd-level spell per day. Add spells – per – day for exceptional ability scores. To cast any spells, a Wizard needs at least an Int of 11, but 16 or 18 would be more common.

Note that it’s possible for a 1st level wizard to cast 2 spells per day of level 1 (see pp. 29); if he’s INT 18, he can have up to 5 prepared (INT 18 is a +4 modifier, and so level + Int Mod is 5). Likewise, a wizard of INT 9 or lower can prepare no spells at 1st level; he can only use his cantrips.

Every class has a number of Spell Slots per day based on their level. For example, a 4th level Druid has four 1st level Spell Slots, and two 2nd level Spell Slots.

The formula for how many you can memorize is (wizard level + intelligence modifier). As an example, a level 2 wizard with an intelligence modifier of +2 (2+2=4). This wizard may have a spellbook containing fifteen spells, but he can only memorize 4 a day.

Once per day when you finish a Short Rest, you can choose expended Spell Slots to recover. The Spell Slots can have a combined level that is equal to or less than half your Wizard level (rounded up), and none of the slots can be 6th level or higher. For example, if you’re a 4th-level Wizard, you can recover up to two levels worth of Spell Slots.

A 2nd edition cleric and wizard prepare spells per day. In your example, the three spells can be cast once each in a single day. If you want to use the same spell twice, you have to prepare it twice. The big difference between Wizard and Cleric is that the Wizard needs to have the spell in his spellbook, while the Cleric has access to all spells (assuming they are from domains he can cast spells from.

eg - an instrument of the bards (grr - was going to link an instrument, then remembered you can only link SRD items in forums) has seven spells that can each be cast once per day. However, the way it is implemented is that it has seven charges that can be utlilised however you want, implying that you can cast the same spell seven times.

How many spells can you do a day? A first-level Wizard can cast at least 3 1st-, 2 2nd-, and 1 3rd-level spell per day. Add spells-per-day for exceptional ability scores. To cast any spells, a Wizard needs at least an Int of 11, but 16 or 18 would be more common. Can Wizards swap spells? No, but there is an alternative.
