Those who are looking for an answer to the question «Why do most redguards dislike or hate magic?» often ask the following questions:

⁉️ Can redguards use magic?

Can Redguards use magic? In the lore the Redguard do not allow the use of magic. It is forbidden and they even have tales to frighten people from attempting to use it. In the old games such as Morrowind we had class choices befitting a Redguard such as Barbarian and Warrior.

⁉️ How do redguards percieve use of magic?

The Redguards basically have two major political parties (Like we do in the U.S.) The Crown are the more traditionalist sect. They believe in following the old ways and keeping to tradition i.e. artistry, blacksmiths, and soldiering. The Forebears are more liberal and feel that they must keep up with the times as a 'modern' society.

⁉️ Why do nords dislike magic?

12. Reputation: 10. Partly the reasons the Nord's hate magic is because they believe the College of Winterhold is the reason that Winterhold the city was destroyed, yet the College was left standing untouched. Nord's are warriors, and don't care for elves, and magic users. "The North Remembers" .

Bretons are more than likely to be fine with magic especially since they are so naturally talented with magic. Imperials are more likely to be like the Bretons albeit until skyrim they weren’t naturally gifted at it. Redguards seem to have a hatred for it. Did something happen in the redguards history that made them so antagonistic towards it.

So why would the Redguards, a race that doesn’t hate the Elves for the same reasons as Nords and even agrees with them, hate magic so much. There are a few reasons. The more basic answer to the question is the vigorous and strict Yokudan notion of individuality and honor. In Lord Vivec’s Sword Meeting an Ansu says

In the lore the Redguard do not allow the use of magic. It is forbidden and they even have tales to frighten people from attempting to use it.

My understanding of it is that Redguards don't hate magic, per se, though they don't revere it - what they hate, being a warrior culture, is the idea of using magic to do your fighting for you. Destruction is ok, if a little suspect - sure, the Redguard on the street can be kinda superstitious, but using magic as a direct weapon still means that it's YOU doing the fighting, so it's not terrible.

If you are asking why Redguards and Nords thinks poorly of magic. It's partially due to their past with magic and the recent catastrophic events in Tamriel. Oblivion Crisis is often being caused by Magic, the collapse of Winterhold City was also strongly believed by the Nords to be caused by Magic.

Redguards are not fans. I remember a Redgaurd in the mages guild in Oblivion saying he had to leave his homeland to practice magic without scrutiny fro peers/family. Even after all that is had a particular dislike for illusion in conjuration, something about 'being in ppls minds and trafficking with the undead' being not right.

I'm indifferent to them, they are however the most generic of all the races "naturally talented warriors" I mean seriously...Bretons are half-elf with magic, Imperials are Romans and diplomats, Nords are Vikings and the Mer and Beast races are all distinct-Redguards don't have anything that really sets them apart or gives them an edge/distinction.

Anonymous said: Do the redguards like, dislike, love, hate or are indifferent to Lorkhan/Shor/Shezzar/ect.? Answer: Well, one of their gods of tribulations is a giant ...

Yeah who am I kidding. That would just get ugly. = ) P.S. Redguards (and Nords) only have an aversion to certain TYPES of magic. Nords pretty much only like Restoration, but Redguards seem to only DISlike illusion and conjuration. At least according to the Redguard in the mages guild in Oblivion.

Orcs are the same deal on all counts except for maybe dislike of magic. Not sure on that last one. Actually, Orcs are even worse when it comes to the whole "honor" thing. Ever meet the random Orc NPC who's literally standing around waiting for a "good death" because it's apparently dishonorable for Orcs to age past a certain point?
